The Circus Is Coming To Town

November 16th, 2008

We are now learning about Circuses and performing for others.  We will be practising acts for our grade 1OJ circus performance, which we will have at school soon.  I wonder what you will do?

1OJ CHILDREN:  Please send me a comment telling me what you would like to do in our circus.  You might like to include what things you need, what you might wear and if you are planning to work with someone else.  I look forward to reading about your plans.  from Mrs. Johns

Today we heard all about everyone’s holidays.  We are all rested up and ready to write a lot of interesting stories and reports about Deep Sea Creatures.  We began talking today about how we can group these creatures as fish or mammals.  Soon we will have some more information.

maths counting

October 5th, 2008

We have all been busy with practising our counting.  It was great to get so many comments to show where we can count up to.  Remember to count by 10s, 2s and 5s both forwards and backwards and see how fast you can count the numbers.  How far can you count in one minute?  Let me know.

Rethink! Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!

July 27th, 2008

Next week we are going on an excursion to look at Horsham’s Wastebusters, the Transfer Station and the Landfill at Dooen.

Soon we are holding a Trash and Treasure stall to recycle some of our toys.  We have begun using a compost bin for our fruit and vegetable scraps and we are trying to have less rubbish from our lunch.

Last week we made some finger drums using a balloon and recycled cans.

How can we recycle more at home so we make less rubbish?

Reusing stuff is good.

Even if you throw sticks in the bin they go to the landfill

Can you recycle things?

Yes.

Change and recycle.

Look! Rubbish!  Let’s recycle it.

I’m going to recycle things,

Now we need to clean up.

Get rid of rubbish.
